Baunei, one of the 22 villages in Ogliastra, has obtained the greatest aknowledgment of all in terms of clean beaches, crystal-clear sea and of policy for environmental preservation: the five sails.
The prize is awarded by the Italian organization that protects and preserves the environment, Legambiente, and by the Italian Touring Club. Every year they write up together a list of the best summer destinations: in the Blue Guide 2011 Baunei is at the eigth place on 367 holiday resorts that have passed the examination.
Also the Gulf of Orosei in the province of Ogliastra has been included in this prestigious top destinations list and has obtained four sails on five.
