CULTURE AND TERRITORY
Loceri is a small village of noble and ancient Etruscan origins, plunged into a vegetation of grapevines and
olive groves, with the gentle hills of Ogliastra at its back. As years go by, it has become a wonderful starting
point both to go on mountain hikes (it is only 20 km far from the park of Gennargentu) and to go to the
sea (it is more or less 10 km far from it).
If you stay in Loceri for a few days, we highly recommend a visit to the nuragh of “Serra
Uleri”: on its top you will enjoy a beautiful view of the valley below. Otherwise, you can reach a place called “
Serra Paulis” or “Pirarba” climbing up through a lane that enters the very thick local vegetation,
at whose end there are some “domus de janas”.
The people of Loceri are closely attached to local traditions: in fact, there are various old shops, some with handicraft
wooden products, some with the typical pottery and some others where you can find beautiful pieces of embroidery
. This is the reason why every year a fair linked to the representation of old jobs takes place here: in the streets of the village, local
people show to the tourists the production of grappas, the working of wool to create carpets and the process to obtain the thick folds of the local
costume.
