The south side of Gennargentu Mountain has highly spectacular areas for the people who drive along the few roads crossing it,
particularly the SS 198.
In order to reach the declivities of Mountain Tonneri and Mountain Perda Liana, it is necessary to start from
the village of Seui and to go towards the state forest of Montarbu, a land characterized by the presence of many calcareous towers
(tacchi) and of closely-planted trees like holm-oaks, ashes, hollies, wild pear-trees, with a scattered Mediterranean scrub. Various lanes lead into
the forest where you can easily sight wild-boars, mouflons, foxes, weasels, buzzards. Continuing on the road towards Flumendosa Lake
(Lago Alto del Flumendosa), immediately after the Genna ‘e Medau pass, Mountain Tonneri rises in front of you.
At the following pass, S’Arcu ‘e su Pirastu Trottu, you will park the car and take a path that skirts the natural step of a calcareous
rock: from that point you will enjoy a unique view, extending from the Mountain Gennargentu to the Flumendosa valley. After a short drive, you will
meet the base of Mountain Perda Liana, one of the most famous “tacchi” of Ogliastra; its top dominates a beautiful area
teeming with woods mingled with rocks and green pastures.
