Punta la Marmora and Bruncu Spina are the highest tops of the Gennargentu chain, both easily
reachable with one hour walk.
You will climb up to 800-900 metres through a very thick vegetation of forest trees, among which there are holm-oaks and chestnuts, while around
1000 metres gigantic durmasts and ancient hollies reign supreme.
From this point on, the vegetation becomes less frequent and it almost disappears on the top; here shrubs, damsons and ground ivies are the masters
of the area. You will be amazed by the local fauna: this territory represents the last shelter for many herds of mouflons and of wild cats, of the
golden eagle and of some rare specimen of vulture.
In order to reach these destinations, suitable vehicles are highly required because, once you leave the main road, the secondary ones are unpaved.
Otherwise, you can choose a very panoramic trip passing through the villages of Desulo or Aritzo to arrive at the foot of Punta La Marmora
(where you can park the car), or through Fonni and Desulo to reach Bruncu Spina.
